As I’m sure you have heard, the King of Pop, Michael Jackson passed away yesterday. We are all deeply saddened by the tragic loss of this extraordinary music legend. Nike Terminator Hi Directed by Swagger

A while back we showed you first images of the Nike Terminator Hi Directed By Swagger. The brown and acqua colored patent leather Terminator Hi has a slightly different silhouette from the classic Terminator Hi and a completely different tongue. Also, the images seem to confirm that there will not be two pairs, but one pair, coming with two different colors on each sneaker. Pool Noodle Rooftop / Jeffrey Inaba

X-Initiative presents the premiere of Pool Noodle Rooftop by Jeffrey Inaba’s Los Angeles‐based practice, INABA. The rooftop space, which will be used for film screenings and special events, will be open to the public daily during selected visiting hours throughout the summer. Four separate seating areas cluster around a ‘X’ shaped carpet that covers the entire rooftop surface.

The furniture, which is also X‐shaped in plan, has been constructed from pool noodles - the long and cylindrical, foam water flotation toys. The pool noodles have been cut and bunched vertically into chaise lounge and ottoman units of varying heights that accommodate up to 150 people. When viewed from above, the arrangement of buoyant seating material spells out the word, ‘bububluooopppp’ - the sound of something either rising or sinking.viaarchdaily

A Cool Cause:Canon x JR Casa Amarela Project Video

JR opens a cultural center in the oldest favela in Rio (shot with EOS 500D) from Canon France on Vimeo.

For the past year, as part of his WOMEN project, JR has been involved in a large-scale event in the oldest favela (shanty town) of Rio de Janeiro. In August 2008, some 20 gigantic portraits of women living in the favela were pasted on more than 40 houses. For the first time, it was art and culture that put Morro da Providencia in the headlines: it has had the reputation of being the most dangerous favela in Rio.

In April 2009, JR returned to Brazil to organize a major exhibition both in the streets of Rio and a local museum. For him, the journey was above all a chance to return and see the people living in Morro da Providencia, and to finalize a project on which he had been working for several months: this was the opening of the “Casa Amarela” (Yellow House), a cultural center for children right in the very heart of the shanty town. The Canon Group offered him support in this seemingly crazy project. Attracted both by JR’s artistic initiative and the social and cultural commitment of the project, Canon donated 15 EOS 450D digital SLR cameras and a PIXMA printer to the Casa Amarela, for use by children at the center. At the end of April, the Casa Amarela finally opened – a space for freedom and creativity where none was left, a space accessible to all inhabitants of the favela, so that art and culture would remain there forever.

In the “Yellow House”, a splash of color on a mountain of concrete, children of the favela now enjoy photography; they held their first exhibition to mark the grand opening on April 25th, 2009. JR, to whom Canon lent a prototype of the new EOS 500D Full HD digital SLR, has now brought back this short video that tells the story of the birth of the Casa Amarela.viahypebeast

The Dogs Are Talkin YIKES!

I absolutely ADORE The Carol's Daughter Skincare line. From the Almond Cookie souffle to the moisturising Face Butter, this line will make your skin very, very happy. Joy Bryant is stunning. If you don't know her name, I'm sure you know her face; it's absolutely gorgeous! Although some of her movie roles have not been Oscar-worthy (ie: Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins and Badassssss!) she did do well in Bobby and Antwone Fisher. JB is the epitome of style and grace thus making her my personal style icon! Her seemingly effortless looks go from daytime-darling to a nighttime knockout. She makes the designs of Herve Leger and Missoni really come to life! With campaigns for everyone from RocaWear to Ralph Lauren, she has cemented her place in the ranks of top models. So here's to you Joy Bryant, for being a shining example of true beauty.

Portland Design Works operates under a simple mission - “We develop beautiful, simple products for urban cycling.” Founded by two friends, Dan and Erik, the company is all about the friendly nature of city riding (i.e. anyone, in anything, at anytime) and giving it some lovely accutrament.
